About Greg Dahms

Greg Dahms started bowmaking in 1996, studying with Joseph Regh of New York. Joseph was a colleague of the late Joseph Kun of Ottawa, Ontario.

Greg studied French bowmaking with Lynn Armour Hannings at the University of New Hampshire attending courses in 1998, 1999, 2000 and 2002. Studies included Bowmaking, Advanced Bowmaking in the French Tradition, Frog and Button Making and Advanced Restorations.

In 2003 Greg was invited to the Advanced Bowmaking workshop at Oberlin College and studied with Jean Grunberger who was a pupil of Bernard Ouchard in Mirecourt, France. M. Grunberger has won the Gold Medal in the Concours Etienne Vatelot violin and bow making competition, part of the Concours internationaux de la Ville de Paris.

In 2006 Greg attended the Banff Bow Making workshop held on Toronto Island and studied with William Salchow of New York and David Tamblyn of Toronto Island.

Greg is a member of the Violin Society of America, has a B.Sc. In Mathematics and plays the violin. He makes new bows and does restorations and rehairing. His bows are esteemed for their excellent playing qualities and he can customize a bow to suit a musician’s particular playing needs.
